Which Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) form should I complete?

You will need to complete the relevant form for your DSA funder, e.g:

If you live in the Republic of Ireland, you will need to book an appointment with a Disability Advisor to discuss applying via the Fund for Students with Disabilities.

For students funded by Student Finance England

If you are an undergraduate student, studying full-time, you should complete the ‘DSA slim form’ or apply online.

If you are a postgraduate student, a part-time student, or are self-funding, you will need to complete the ‘DSA full form'.

If your form needs stamping by Disability and Dyslexia Support, please either attach a scanned copy of your completed form and send an enquiry to Disability Support, or email disability@lsbu.ac.uk, or hand in a copy to the Student Life Centre Helpdesk. See the FAQ: How can I contact teams or send enquiries using MyAccount?

For students seconded by their employer

If you have been seconded by your employer to complete an NHS funded course, you may be able to apply for DSA. Your funding body may ask for additional evidence to confirm that you are seconded by your employer. If you are not sure what evidence you need to provide for this, please contact your funding body directly.

Continuing students

Student Finance England (SFE)

If you are a full time, undergraduate student, and receive core SFE funding (e.g. a tuition fee loan), you may not need to apply for DSA each academic year. Generally, by reapplying for your core funding, your DSA will continue. SFE will sometimes send a continuing students form for you to complete.
If any of the below apply to you, you will need to apply for DSA each academic year:

  • Only receive DSA funding from SFE (e.g. no tuition fee loan),
  • Part-time student,
  • Postgraduate student,
  • Sponsored or Seconded by an employer,
  • Changed course or repeating an academic year.
If you're not sure if you need to reapply, contact your funding body, or contact DDS by submitting an enquiry through MyAccount.
