Where can I get a student status letter or a Council Tax exemption letter?

If you are fully enrolled, you can download a Council Tax exemption letter or a student status letter as a PDF.

Request a letter.

There are two letters that LSBU can issue:

The student status letter:

  • confirms that you are fully enrolled for the current academic year

  • contains course information (title, length and dates of the course)

  • contains your permanent and term-time addresses

  • contains a link to our key dates page for term-time and holiday dates

  • can be used to open a student bank account, for GP registration, etc.

The Council Tax exemption letter:

  • confirms that you are fully enrolled for the current academic year for the purposes of Council Tax exemption. You must be a full-time student (on a course lasting at least one year, involving at least 21 hours of study per week) to be eligible for council tax exemption. Students enrolled on a part-time course are not eligible for an exemption letter.
