Where can I get a holiday or work letter?

You may have been asked to provide a work or holiday letter. However there are not specific letters for these purposes. Further explanation can be found below:

Work Letter
We as an institution are not required to provide you with a letter to confirm that you can work on a part time basis as this is reflected on your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) and is also written on the Tier 4 guidance paragraph 201-207 and the Right to work guide page 33 Annex B. It is ultimately your employer’s responsibility to confirm your right to work as they could be penalised if they don’t abide to the Government requirement.

As you can see on the right to work guidance, there is no mention that a student must provide a letter confirming they can work.

However, should your employer request this, you can provide them with a student status letter and your BRP. The student letter confirms that you are a student at LSBU, which means you follow our standard student term-time/holiday dates. Your BRP confirms the hours are you able to work within term-time and holiday dates.

Should they require further confirmation or are still unsure whether or not you can work on holidays, they can call the Employer Enquiry helpline.

Holiday Letter
We are unable to provide you with a letter that confirms you can travel outside of the UK during our holiday dates, including a 'No Objection Certificate'. Instead, please ensure you have checked your visa/BRP for any restrictions regarding travelling abroad, and download a student status letter which confirms all of the required details.

For further information on travelling abroad during term-time and holidays, please see the FAQ I need to travel back to my home country. What should I do?
