Do I have a sexually transmitted infection (STI)?
If you have had sex without using a condom, or the condom split or came off during sex, there's a change you may have an sexually transmitted infection (STI).

Most STI's can be easily treated, but they are often asymptomatic, which means people don't have any symptoms.

If they are left untreated, STI's can cause long-term health issues. It is recommended that you get tested for STI's after each new sexual partner. It is particularly important to get tested if:
  • You have symptoms of an STI
  • A sexual partner has symptoms of an STI
  • You're worried after having sex without a condom
  • You're pregnant with symptoms of an STI

Some symptoms of an STI can be:
  • changes in discharge from the vagina, penis or anus (including the way the discharge looks, smells or feels)
  • pain when peeing
  • new lumps, skin growths, blisters, sores or warts around the genitals or anus
  • itchy genitals or anus
