What is bullying?
LSBU defines bullying as offensive, intimidating, malicious or insulting behaviour which can involve the misuse of power (set out in more detail in the Student Harassment, Bullying and Sexual Misconduct policy ).

These behaviours can make a person feel vulnerable, upset, humiliated, undermined or threatened.

Power does not always mean being in a position of authority, but can include both personal strength and the power to coerce through fear or intimidation.

This can be between two individuals or it may involve groups of people.

It might be obvious or it might be insidious.

It may be persistent or an isolated incident.

Bullying can take the form of physical, verbal and non-verbal conduct. It can occur in written communications, email, text, by phone, online, or via social media, not just face to-face.

Bullying is never okay, and LSBU takes it seriously. Please do not suffer in silence if you are experiencing bullying. Support is available, and we want to hear from you.

If you have experienced harassment or bullying, you can log this on the confidential Report and Support platform and access support from LSBU.
