I'm being bullied/harassed. What support is available?
If you have experienced a harassment you may be feeling angry, in shock, hurt or afraid. It is not your fault and nobody should have to put up with being harassed. Harassments is never okay and is contrary to the Equality Act 2010 and The LSBU Student Harassment, Bullying, and Sexual Misconduct Policy

Staying safe:
  • Is it an emergency? If anyone is in immediate danger or seriously injured, contact the emergency services on 999 for ambulance or police.
  • If you are in LSBU Halls of Residence and you want help, you can contact any member of Halls Staff or call Security’s emergency number on 020 7815 6666. You can also use the SafeZone app to contact security on campus Download the app.
  • Find a safe space. If an incident has just happened, try and find somewhere you feel safe.

Support at LSBU:
At LSBU, there are Student Liaison Officers who offer specific support to students who have experienced harassment, hate, bullying, sexual violence or discrimination. Their role is to provide a confidential listening ear, and ensure you are aware of your options for reporting what's happened and for accessing support, without any pressure or judgement.

If you have experienced harassment or bullying, you can log this on the confidential Report and Support platform. You will be contacted within 1 working day (Mon-Fri) with further information, including the option of speaking to a Student Liaison Officer. You are always in control of what happens next and you are not committing to any specific action by logging an incident or talking to a Student Liaison Officer.

You can also access this support by emailing studentwellbeing@lsbu.ac.uk

Reporting to the disciplinary team:
If you are being bullied or harassed by another LSBU student or staff member, you can report this for investigation by LSBU. Check out these FAQs for more information:
You can also report incidents to the LSBU security team by calling 020 7815 8219, emailing security-office@lsbu.ac.uk, or visiting their office on the 1st floor of the Borough Road building on Southwark Campus.

If you speak to a Student Liaison Officer, they can help you report the incident to the Student Disciplinary Team (if you want to do this).
